7 Most Important Things to Know About Queen Anne

Cunard’s Queen Anne has taken to the seas as the cruise line’s first new ship in 14 years.

The vessel represents a new chapter for this luxury brand. While some aspects keep in theme with Cunard historically, there are plenty of new elements for guests to enjoy as well.

“Cunard keeps evolving as a brand, and so Queen Anne is the next step in that evolution,” Jamie Paiko, Cunard’s vice president of sales, told TMR. “The ship is designed with all the signature trademarks of the brand but also brings playful luxury across the brand.”

“Travel advisors can bring Cunard and Queen Anne to their most sophisticated luxury travelers, and they’re going to have a fantastic experience,” she added. “There’s experiences on board for everyone with a focus particularly on entertainment, spa experiences, and dining.”

Here are the seven most important things to know about Queen Anne.

1. It offers the same room classes as Cunard’s three other ships.
Cunard guests will return to the same room categories that they found on Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, and Queen Mary II. Queen Anne retains the Queen Grill Suites, which include a Grand Suite, Master, Penthouse, and Queens Suite; Princess Grill Suites; and Britannia Staterooms, which include the Club Balcony, Balcony, Oceanview Deluxe, Oceanview, and Inside rooms.

2. It has the highest guest capacity of the current fleet.
Though Queen Anne is not the largest Cunard ship in terms of tonnage (the Queen Mary II ocean liner remains the largest in that sense), it does offer the most interior space and guest capacity. Queen Anne can carry 3,000 guests, and the number of Britannia grade rooms has grown 2% from past ships. Queen Anne also offers a three-story Grand Lobby, two swimming pools, a fine art gallery, a library, fully equipped fitness center, a spa, a ballroom, a cabana bar, kids and teen zone, and more – so plenty of spaces for everyone on board to enjoy.

3. It has the Cunard line’s largest spa.
With Queen Anne, Cunard is leaning heavier into its wellness and relaxation offerings than ever before. That means a 4,265 square-foot spa with many treatments to choose from. Mareel Wellness & Beauty features a steam room, dry sauna, Himalayan salt sauna, cold room, four experience showers, and four reflexology foot baths. It’s all anchored by a thermal pool with eight heated loungers. Plus, there is one wellness suite that includes two massage beds, a steam room, and large shower, as well as a large relaxation bed and infrared sauna with sea views. The salon, part of the spa, offers haircut and color, waxing, manicures, and more. Plus, the attached fitness center has cardio machines, free weights, a sprung floor, spin class studio, and access to personal trainers.

4. It offers a healthy cafe and wellness studio.
In addition to Queen Anne’s spa and fitness center, Cunard has introduced a Wellness Studio and Wellness Cafe. The Wellness Studio features a dedicated, glass-enclosed space for yoga, Pilates, and other fitness classes.  The Wellness Cafe serves a range of healthy meals, including plant-based foods and sustainably sourced meat, dairy and fish options.

5. Cunard has expanded the variety of its dining options on board.
Guests will recognize many of the same dining venues from other ships on Queen Anne: Britannia Restaurant, Princess and Queens Grill Restaurants, Golden Lion, Carinthia Lounge, Chart Room, and Commodore Club have all returned. However, including the Wellness Cafe, there are five new dining options on board for foodies to get excited about: Aranya, an Indian restaurant; Aji Wa, serving Japanese cuisine; Tramonto, offering Mediterranean dishes; and Sir Samuels, a steakhouse.

6. Cunard has partnered with David Pugh and British Film Institute (BFI) for its entertainment offerings.
Entertainment is important to any cruise experience, and Cunard aims to deliver on Queen Anne. The cruise line has partnered with David Pugh, a West End and Broadway theater producer, to adapt and feature performances of his plays A Brief Encounter and Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) at the ship’s Royal Court Theater. Cunard has also partnered with BFI to screen a curation of short and feature length films on an outdoor screen at the ship’s Pavilion pool area.

7. Bright Lights Society is the shiniest new entertainment venue on board.
Bright Lights Society is Cunard’s brand-new, 132-seat cabaret-style venue on Queen Anne. The name honors Cunard’s heritage as sailing the first ocean liner with electric lighting. The entertainment venue will host a variety of intimate, exciting shows. For example, the shows currently running are Noir, a murder mystery and romance tale, and Fizz, an immersive cabaret including impressive vocals and burlesque dance.
