New Opening: Ian Schrager’s Rome EDITION

New Opening: Ian Schrager’s Rome EDITION

The newest hotel from industry icon Ian Schrager, the Rome EDITION, is now open.

The 91-room hotel is located only a few short steps from Via Veneto, one of the most popular streets in the city, and within walking distance to icons such as the Piazza Barberini, the Spanish Steps, and the Trevi Fountain.

The hotel occupies a building that goes back to the 1940s, created by Cesare Pascoletti in collaboration with the famed architect Marcello Piacentini. The building’s original features were retained throughout during EDITION’s renovation, including the building’s central courtyards and original statues and lamps.

EDITION says the guestrooms, which include 17 suites, were designed with the brand’s style in mind, “but with a pronounced Italian flare.” The beds are designed in Canaletto light walnut wood and paired with Peperino stone and custom bedside tables, with Italian artwork lining the wall. The bathrooms are highlighted by custom Carrara marble basins and signature EDITION Le Labo amenities.

For food and drink, the hotel includes three different bars, a rooftop lounge, a pool bar, a show-restaurant, and a courtyard garden eatery. The food options were created by Paola Colucci, the self-taught founder of Rome’s Pianostrada restaurant.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Anima, features a menu that includes Colucci’s version of spaghetti with roasted tomatoes and veal with tuna sauce, along with a wine menu heavy on Italian offerings.

The highlights of its bar offerings are two unique lounges—Punch Room and Jade Bar. The Punch Room is an EDITION standard, while the Jade Bar is a new concept that EDITION is calling a “mixology destination,” fit into an intimate jewel box-like space with floor-to-ceiling antique marble. There’s also a separate large bar area called The Roof on the hotel’s seventh floor next to the outdoor pool.

The hotel is one of five new EDITION hotels set to open this year. The others include The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai; The Singapore EDITION, set to open in fall 2023; The Jeddah EDITION, set to open this summer; and The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza, which will also open this summer.
