A renovated, historic 19th-century mansion is home to the new Kimpton BEM Budapest, Kimpton Hotels’ first boutique property in the city.

The luxury brand by IHG Hotels & Resorts just opened the 127-room hotel, offering its signature services in an elegant, artfully designed atmosphere. Located in the heart of Budapest, the hotel sits on the banks of the Danube River – on the Buda side near the Castle District, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

“We are thrilled to be part of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ first venture in Hungary’s capital,” said Atilla AE Domby, the hotel’s general manager. “Kimpton BEM Budapest blends elegance and urban energy, just steps away from the stunning Danube River and Budapest’s top attractions. With its stylish yet playful vibe, Kimpton BEM Budapest offers a unique glimpse into the cultural crossroads of East and West.”

Design

Globally esteemed Dutch designer Marcel Wanders crafted the distinct look and feel of the hotel’s interiors. The design draws inspiration from Hungary’s rich folklore, with imagery of mythological creatures, and incorporates the region’s flora, with illustrations of poppies and tulips. Guests will also encounter a central glass atrium that contains a Golden Stag, concaved ceilings, and rich greenery. Tastefully curated books and collectibles decorate the interiors as well.

For those who want a super-upgrade, there are the Cosmos and Observatory Suites, which are equipped with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining room, and kitchenette. The Observatory Suite also features a private furnished rooftop terrace.
