JetBlue is bringing new nonstops to one of New York state’s most beloved regional airports.

JetBlue is adding direct service from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) to three Florida destinations, according to an announcement by Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter on Tuesday.

“Our airport customers across Long Island have been expressing their clear enthusiasm for more air service at ISP, and JetBlue is consistently one of the most frequent requests. We’ve been listening and working very hard to bring additional options to Long Island,” Carpenter said.

Starting in October, the carrier will add:
–    Daily service from Islip to Orlando International Airport (MCO).
–    Four-times weekly service from ISP to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
–    Four times weekly service from ISP to Palm Beach International Airport (PBI).

JetBlue will fly all of the new service on its Airbus A320 aircraft, that features 42 of its signature Even More Space premium seats.

Islip MacArthur has been funded with over $100 million in upgrades over the past eight years, including updates to its airfield and major terminal projects to boost passenger experience. The hope was that those projects would attract more service, which has proven to be correct with this week’s announcements and previous announcements over the past few years.

The new JetBlue service supplements already popular flights out of the airport—according to FlightRadar, the airport’s current most popular routes are to Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), which is up to 30 flights per week; Orlando, 23 flights per week; and Palm Beach, 17 flights per week. The current carriers operating out of Islip include Breeze, Frontier, and Southwest.
