American Airlines is Decreasing Flights from Austin Airport

by Briana Bonfiglio / July 30, 2024
American Airlines is Decreasing Flights from Austin Airport

American Airlines will cut a chunk of nonstop routes from Austin-Bergstrom Airport (AUS) starting in October.

The airline just announced that it will discontinue its year-round service to Las Vegas (LAS), Orlando (MCO), and New Orleans (MSY) and seasonal service to Reno (RNO) and Palm Springs (PSP), “as part of the continuous evaluation of our network.”

“American will continue to offer customers access to our comprehensive global network of more than 350 destinations with one-stop connections,” an American Airlines spokesperson said. “We’re proactively reaching out to impacted customers and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

The nonstop service cuts to these five airports from Austin add to more than 20 that American has announced since last year. These include to destinations such as Cozumel, Mexico; Liberia, Costa Rica; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
