Flights are temporarily suspended at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport because of a collision between a passenger plane and a Japanese Coast Guard Aircraft on Tuesday morning.

Local Japanese media reported on Tuesday that a Japan Airlines flight, with almost 400 people onboard, burst into flames after colliding with the Coast Guard plane after landing. The cause of the collision is currently unknown.

Japan Airlines said that all passengers and crew onboard its flight were evacuated safely, though some are reporting injuries. Five Coast Guard crew on the other aircraft, which was set to deliver aid to victims of Monday’s earthquake on the other side of the country, were killed, according to Reuters.

For the time being, all flights in or out of Haneda have been cancelled or delayed on Tuesday. The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo is advising all travelers that the airport is closed and air traffic controllers at Haneda have reportedly said the same thing.

According to flight tracking website FlightAware, 110 flights into Haneda and another 81 out of the airport have been cancelled already with more expected, including all flights from All Nippon Airways (ANA) into and out of Haneda.

While Japan Airlines and local authorities said they are investigating the cause of the collision, it does not appear to be connected to Monday’s earthquake in Japan.
