Air Canada Announces Flexible Rebooking Policy Ahead of Potential Strike

Air Canada has released an update for its customers on the ongoing negotiations with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA).

Last week, Air Canada pilots voted to authorize a strike, which could occur as early as mid-September, following a mandatory cooling-off period.

In a statement released today, the Canadian air carrier announced a flexible rebooking policy for customers who have booked travel just before to just after the cooling-off period ends on Sept. 17. The new policy is effective immediately.

Guests with travel booked from Sept. 15 to 23 can change to any other Air Canada flight with the same origin and destination up to Nov. 30, 2024. The airline will waive change fees as well as fare differences for customers rebooking for the same cabin. Those who want to rebook after Nov. 30 will have the change fee waived but not any fare difference.

Travelers who prefer to cancel can do so and retain a future travel credit; however, this option is only available to guests who purchased a refundable ticket.

Customers who purchased an Air Canada Vacations package with flights between Sept. 15 to 23 can modify their booking, but no refunds will be offered. ACV will offer a one-time $50 credit per passenger for those who change their travel date. Customers can also opt for a future travel credit for the full amount, which is good for one year.

Customers who are booked to return from a destination between Sept. 15 to 23 can request a return travel date change. Additional fees apply and will be incurred for extended hotel stays.

More details for customers are available at http://www.aircanada.com/action and for Air Canada Vacations customers at https://vacations.aircanada.com/en/travel-advisories.
