The Travel Institute has added AmaWaterways senior vice president of sales Alex Pinelo to its board of directors affective immediately.

Pinelo, who hold a CTC designation with the Travel Institute, joins others on the board including Jackie Friedman, the president of Nexion; Rick Baron, the former managing director of global sale with Tauck; Laurie Bohn-Isaure, the senior director of national accounts with Silversea; David Chait, the CEO and founder of Travefy; and Drew Daly, the senior vice president and GM of WTH/Dream Vacations.

Pinelo, like all others, will serve a three year time on the board and help shape the Travel Institute’s mission.

“Education, experience and enthusiasm are key to building a successful career in the travel industry. We see the value every day—credentialed advisors are not only better producers but they are also more confident and respected,” Pinelo said.

“Getting certified is not required but it is critical. The time invested in achieving and maintaining TTI certification sets travel advisors down a proven path to reap the long-term rewards—for themselves and for our industry,” he added.
