A major winter storm could cause travel issues on Tuesday, Feb. 13 in parts of the Northeast U.S.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning those in and around New York City, Boston, parts of Pennsylvania, and more, of rain, and then snow, from Monday night into Tuesday.

The NWS has issued several Winter Storm Warnings for the area, parts of which could see snowfall of up to 12 inches in Northeast New Jersey, the Lower Hudson Valley, Connecticut, and more. New York City’s three main airports, according to the latest update from the NWS on Monday morning, could see between four and eight inches.

While there is still a lot of uncertainty with the storm’s path, and with the final snowfall totals, several airlines are expecting disruptions on Tuesday. Ahead of that, carriers have issued travel waivers for change fees and fare differences for those likely impacted by the weather.

American Airlines
American’s waiver covers travel on Feb. 13 to, from, and through:

Albany (ALB), Allentown (ABE), Boston (BOS), Harrisburg (MDT), Hartford (BDL), Manchester (MHT), New York Kennedy (JFK), New York LaGuardia (LGA), Newark (EWR), Philadelphia (PHL), Pittsburgh (PIT), Providence (PVD), State College (SCE), White Plains / Westchester County (HPN), Wilkes-Barre / Scranton (AVP), and Worcester (ORH).

The waiver, which covers every fare class, allows new tickets to be reissued for travel through Feb. 15 with no fees as long as it is rebooked through the same cities and in the same cabin. Tickets must have been purchased by Feb. 9
