Virgin Hotels Partners with Autism Double-Checked for Inclusive Travel Services

Virgin Hotels is expanding its commitment to inclusive travel by partnering with Autism Double-Checked, an organization that offers a certification program for the travel and hospitality industry.

The luxury lifestyle hospitality brand is working with Autism Double-Checked to develop training materials for Virgin Hotels staff, designed to improve the overall experience for neurodiverse travelers and guests with hidden disabilities.

“There is a significant segment of the population missing out on the opportunity to create memories with loved ones due to barriers in accessible travel,” said James Bermingham, CEO of Virgin Hotels Collection. “It is so important to us to provide a safe and accessible space that allows all individuals the freedom to travel with ease and partnering with Autism Doubled-Checked was an essential step for Virgin Hotels to make a significant difference and impact for neurodiverse travelers.”

Autism Double-Checked offers three levels of classification for Autism-readiness: Autism Aware, Autism Ready, and Autism Double-Checked. Hotels and airlines with Double-Checked status have received specialized training to assist neurodiverse guests, and offer a Visitor Guide with information such as possible sensory issues, crowd expectations, and safety concerns.

So far, four Virgin Hotels are Autism Double-Checked certified (Virgin Hotels Nashville, Virgin Hotels New York, Virgin Hotels Dallas, and Virgin Hotels Chicago), with Virgin Hotels New Orleans and Virgin Hotels Edinburgh to be certified later this year.

Hotels with Autism Double-Checked certifications also offer reduced rates for practice stays. This opportunity provides neurodiverse travelers and their families a stress-free way to rehearse hotel stays locally in preparation for longer, out-of-town trips. Guests interested in booking a practice stay can visit the Autism Double-checked website or email hotelswithheart@virginhotels.com.
