Disney Cruise Line Welcomes Disney Treasure in New York City

The Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, was officially christened on Tuesday at Pier 60 in New York City. The celebration marked another milestone in Disney’s ongoing expansion of its cruise fleet.

The ship is Disney’s sixth cruise ship and a sister ship to the Disney Wish, which kicked off this new era of growth for the company’s cruise business when it entered service in July 2022. That era now includes seven more ships in the pipeline: Disney Destiny, another Wish-class ship entering service in 2025; Disney Adventure, also entering service in 2025; and four yet-to-be-named ships.

Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger and Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Josh D’Amaro were on hand at Pier 60 to celebrate the Treasure’s christening. Speaking to media and travel industry representatives, Iger reflected on the success of Disney Cruise Line since its launch in 1998.

“Our ships have become brand ambassadors that bring our world-class storytelling to life,” Iger said. He also paid tribute to the godparents of the Disney Treasure—the 200,000 cast members, crew, and Imagineers who make up The Walt Disney Company.

“We also know that at the heart of everything we do are the dedicated cast members and employees who bring the passion that delivers joy to millions of people around the globe,” Iger added.

The christening featured a performance by Jordin Sparks and a drone show over the Hudson River, which included Disney-themed storytelling and culminated in a drone-simulated champagne bottle-breaking:

Treasure shares a lot of the same details as other Disney ships—it features rotational dining for its guests, a Disney Cruise Line staple, sports the 1200-seat Walt Disney Theatre and dual cinemas, and its top deck is highlighted by an AquaMouse water coaster.
