Construction Begins on American Cruise Lines’ 4th New Coastal Ship, American Legend

Construction has begun on American Legend, the fourth new Coastal Cat in American Cruise Lines’ Project Blue series of coastal vessels. It is scheduled to debut in late 2024.

First announced in 2022, the Project Blue series is a set of 12 small cruise ships designed to cover almost any domestic cruise itinerary from coastal and lake itineraries to river cruises. The first two ships in the series – American Eagle and American Glory – are scheduled to debut later this year.

The 100-guest American Legend is being built for coastal operation and features the innovative new hull designs that is the hallmark of the series. Like the rest of the series, American Legend will 56 staterooms and suites – each with a real balcony – and multiple dining and lounge spaces. The ship’s catamaran hull form also allows for a wide activity platform at the back, equipped with kayaks and a large tender.
