Avalon Waterways will begin sailing to Bordeaux for the first time in 2025, offering a selection of one-, two-, and three-week itineraries. With the addition of the new sailings, the river cruise line will be increasing its France offerings by 30%.

“Wine-lovers aren’t the only cruisers raising a glass to Avalon’s new Bordeaux itineraries,” said Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways. “Along the shores of the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers, we’re elevating immersive experiences for guests, offering them deeper discoveries of the richest traditions in Southwest France.”

Activities available on these sailings, which will be operated onboard Avalon Artistry II, range from chateaux visits and crème puff baking classes to e-biking through vineyards and free time in postcard-perfect villages.

The marquee Bordeaux sailing will be the eight-day Bonjour Bordeaux: Chateaux, Wineries & Charming Villages, which starts and ends in Bordeaux and includes visits to Cadillac-sur-Garonne, Cussac Fort Medoc, Blaye, Bourg, and Libourne. Each stop will offer one or more of the following types of excursions:  Classic sightseeing, Discovery excursion, and Active outing.

The eight-day itinerary can be combined with other itineraries to create two- and three-week cruising options.
