U.S. to Waive Visa Requirements for Polish Citizens

The U.S. government announced on Friday that it has nominated Poland for access to the State Department’s Visa Waiver Program, which will make it easier for Polish citizens to travel to the U.S. The program allows citizens of participating countries to be able to travel to the U.S. for up to 90 days, without requiring them to obtain a visitor visa.
The White House calls the move an “important step in continuing to increase economic, security, cultural, and people-to-people connections between our two nations.”
Poland has pursued access to the program for decades, and with the announcement of its nominations, it looks as though it will finally be included.
Currently, there are 38 countries that are participating in the visa waiver program, including France, Germany, Australia, Sweden, and Japan.
Now that Poland has been formally nominated to join the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, the next step is an assessment by the Department of Homeland Security.
After the administrative process required for all new Visa Waiver Program members is completed, a date will be announced on which Polish citizens seeking to enter the U.S. for short tourist or business trips without a visa will commence. Until that time, Polish tourists and business travelers will continue to require U.S. visas to enter the U.S.
