Swan Hellenic Names Valerie Wilson as Godmother of New Cruise Ship

Swan Hellenic Names Valerie Wilson as Godmother of New Cruise Ship

Swan Hellenic, a European-based cultural expedition cruise line, has named luxury travel advisor icon Valerie Ann Wilson as godmother of its next new ship, the SH Diana, which launches this May. The ship is the third purpose-built vessel for the cruise line.

“We’re truly honored to have Valerie as godmother to this very special new ship, considering her iconic status in the U.S. travel industry and the importance of the US market for Swan Hellenic,” said Andrea Zito, Swan Hellenic CEO. “SH Diana proudly takes us back to where our story began, while also opening a new chapters that takes cultural expedition cruising worldwide in exceptional comfort and style.”

Wilson, the founder and CEO of Valerie Wilson Travel, has more than 40 years of experience in the travel industry, having served on almost every travel related advisory board during her career. This will not be her first time serving as godmother; she is also the godmother of AmaWaterways’ AmaPrima.

The 192-guest SH Diana is the third and largest in a series of three high ice-class, cultural expedition cruise ships built for Swan Hellenic. Onboard highlights include extensive deck areas, a dedicated presentation and lecture theater overlooking the lounge, onboard tender boats and expedition-style Zodiacs, a gym and spa, panoramic sauna, and swimming pool with poolside grill. It will officially be welcomed into the fleet during a naming ceremony on May 4 in Amsterdam.
