Karisma Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Autism Double-Checked (ADC) to implement an Autism Passport—the first hotel collection to do so.

Described as a “first-of-its-kind comprehensive tool for guests,” the Autism Passport allows guests to communicate essential information to Karisma hotels, as well as certified airlines and airports—whether that’s sensory triggers, special interests or calming strategies.

“This continued collaboration aligns with Karisma’s overarching goal of ensuring every guest feels welcome and supported,” said Esteban Velasquez, CEO at Karisma Hotels & Resorts. “We feel that the introduction of the Autism Passport marks a significant step forward in our shared commitment to provide an unparalleled stay for all travelers.”

Autism Passport is an extension of the Autism Concierge program, which Karisma and ADC launched last summer. This program provides guests with a dedicated contact for autism-related questions and concerns.

ADC is a leader in supporting training and resources for serving neurodiverse travelers, offering its Autism Double-Checked certification program to hotels and airports.

As part of this certification, ADC provides specialized Autism-readiness training to staff, and prepares a Visitor’s Guide for neurodiverse travelers. This guide contains important information, such as crowd expectations and safety concerns.

“Travel with autism is greatly improved by good planning, and individualized information is key to that planning,” said Alan Day, co-founder and CEO of Autism Double-Checked. “Karisma continues to show remarkable dedication to welcoming guests with autism, so it’s no surprise that they are the first to deploy this important tool.”

Karisma’s Autism Double-Checked certified hotels include Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana, Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun, and Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancún. Azul Beach Resort in Negril Jamaica and Margaritaville Island Reserve® Riviera Maya are currently undergoing certification and will be fully certified by the end of 2024.

The list of Double-Checked certified companies is available on ADC’s website.
