Delta Air Lines Expands Nonstop Flights from Austin-Bergstrom International

As other carriers cut service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Delta Air Lines is doubling down, aiming to be the airline serving the city.

Delta on Tuesday announced five new nonstops from Austin for 2025—Panama City, Fla. (ECP); Indianapolis (IND); Memphis (MEM); San Francisco (SFO); and Tampa (TPA).

The Panama City flights will start March 9 and operate daily, while the Memphis service will start in May as the only nonstop link between the two cities. The Indianapolis service will also launch in May and then the daily San Francisco and Tampa flights will start on June 8.

With those additions, Delta will run a schedule of close to 60 peak-day departures from Austin in the summer 2025, which is on top of the 20% seat capacity increase it put into service in April.

Delta’s move comes just a few weeks after American Airlines majorly scaled back its operations in Austin, cutting 5 nonstop flights after cutting more than 20 flights in 2023. American had cited profitability during some of those cuts. Delta, for its part, specifically mentioned Austin’s growing reputation as a tech and business hub as a reason for its focus on the city.

“We continue to listen and respond to what Austin needs as it grows, and we have a dedicated corporate sales team at the ready to get all customers to, from, and through this crucial tech and business destination,” said Scott Santoro, Delta’s VP of sales.

Austin, which boomed during the pandemic, is also planning a new multimillion-dollar expansion, the largest in its history, of Austrin-Bergstrom International. The expansion will see the airport double in size, with a new 20-gate Concourse B and a tunnel to connect it to Concourse B. The project should be complete by 2027.
