Delta Air Lines Adds Digital ID to Another U.S. Airport

Delta’s Digital ID, maybe the fastest way to travel through airport security, is expanding.

Salt Lake City International (SLC) is the newest airport to feature a Delta Digital ID lane, joining Atlanta Hartsfield (ATL), Detroit Metropolitan (DTW), Los Angeles International (LAX), John F. Kennedy International (JFK), and LaGuardia (LGA).

Delta isn’t stopping there, either—next up is Ronald Reagan Airport (DCA) in Washington D.C., which will get the option in November prior to the holiday rush.

Delta Digital ID allows users to check bags and move through security without showing a boarding pass or physical ID. It also gives them access to their own lane at security, separate from PreCheck and CLEAR. It uses biometric facial matching to remove the need for a TSA agent to check their documents—all users have to do is look into a camera and then get the okay from the agent.

Delta says the option is 75% faster than standard transactions at bag drop, and 60% faster than the standard security experience, dropping the transaction time with an agent from 20 to 25 seconds to 7 to 10 seconds.

How to get Delta Digital ID

Digital ID is available for all Delta users as long as they have a PreCheck membership.

To get access, users must load their passport information and Known Traveler Number into their Delta profile via the Fly Delta app. They can then opt-in by going to the Profile section of the Fly Dlta App, going into Basic Info & Passport Details, and then into their Secure Flight Info. It’s there they will see the option to opt-in.

Once they are opted in, they can use any of the Digital ID lanes. Users are able to opt-out at any time.
