This week, ALG Vacations welcomed 40 travel advisors under 40 years old to celebrate its first-ever Kindness Conference, a new concept for the company that was geared towards relationship building and celebration of kindness in the travel industry.
As part of the conference, which took place at the Secrets Moxche in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the attendees undertook a give-back mission, raising money in the weeks leading up to the event to provide necessities for one of the area’s local communities.
In total, the group of advisors raised over $13,000 for the Village of Delirio, all through their personal network. The money was used to buy necessities including toothpaste, non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, school supplies for the children, air condition units for the village’s classrooms, and more for the village’s 27 families.
“On behalf of everyone, we wanted to give our gratitude for welcoming us to your home,” ALG Vacations president Ray Snisky said to the families on Tuesday morning. “You may think we are helping you but you have inspired all of us. The world is a better place when we all help each other.”
The total donations were large enough to deliver those goods on Tuesday morning, with enough left over to come back and deliver more at Christmas, a promise Snisky at the ALG Vacations made in person on Tuesday.
Snisky and ALG Vacations, which has long made mission trips and giveback events a signature of their conferences, recognized the importance of these experiences for themselves and their advisors.
“We’re going to be here for three days, but today will be without question the most important day we spend here,” Snisky said.
