Thunderstorms on the East Coast are expected to cause some flight issues on Wednesday, June 26.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has already issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the New York area through 9 p.m. EST.

In New York City, the NWS says that “showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through ahead of a cold front Wednesday afternoon and evening” and that “some of these thunderstorms could be strong.”

Several airlines have already issued change fee or fare difference waivers anticipating an impact.

American Airlines has a waiver out for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall (BWI), John F. Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), Newark Liberty International (EWR), Philadelphia International (PHL), Washington Dulles International (IAD), and Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA).

American’s waiver includes travel through those airports until the end of June 26, with free rebooking through June 30.

JetBlue has a waiver out for flights on June 26 through John F. Kennedy International (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), Newark Liberty International (EWR), Philadelphia International (PHL), Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), and Westchester County (HPN).

F. Green International (PVD), Washington Dulles International (IAD), and Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA).

Southwest ticketholders can rebook for a new flight within 14 days of their original date of travel without paying additional charges.
