Abercrombie & Kent Teases More About Upcoming Amazon Riverboat

We now know a bit more about Abercrombie & Kent’s (A&K) upcoming, highly anticipated Peruvian Amazon Riverboat, the company’s first riverboat in Latin America. A&K on Tuesday dropped some more details of the boat, which is expected to launch in mid-2025 with sales opening next month.

The ship will be called Pure Amazon, a name that comes from the river the boat will sail and A&K’s focus on “sustainable exploration and authentic cultural immersion,” the company said.

Inside, the ship’s interiors will blend “the authentic spirit of the Amazon” with a sophisticated design from A&K’s architect, Adriana Granato, of Milan’s Studio Ibsen. The ship will have 10 suites and 2 single cabins, each filled with handcrafted furnishings made from locally sourced materials.

Outside of staterooms, the ship will offer both indoor and outdoor lounges, where guests will be able to sip a cocktail, and a dining room with flavors of the Amazon built into both the décor and menu, with dishes filled with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Activity-wise, Pure Amazon will offer guests specific wellbeing offerings onboard in a separate wellness room, gym, and an observation deck where staff will hold daily yoga sessions.

Onshore, the ship will offer kayaking through tributaries, piranha fishing, and nightly excursions to see the Amazon’s wildlife at night. For those wanting something less physical and more leisurely, the skiffs will host sunset cocktails and sunrise breakfasts.

“Our first riverboat in Latin America is an exciting new chapter in A&K’s legacy of luxury expedition cruising,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. “With her launch, we invite guests to embark on a transformative journey into the very soul of the Amazon, where unparalleled adventures intertwine with the warm hospitality and exceptional service that define every A&K voyage.”

Riverboats are an area of growth for A&K—the company just announced that, in addition to Pure Amazon, it was building a new Nile riverboat, its fifth in Egypt, which will launch in late 2025. That ship will include 32 cabins, including two “unprecedented” presidential suites.
