1 Hotels, part of SH Hotels & Resorts, will soon debut in Japan with the opening of 1 Hotel Tokyo in 2025.

The company will introduce its sustainable hotel brand to Japan by incorporating the country’s unique natural landscapes in an urban setting.

“To world travelers, Japan is revered for the beauty of its gardens and the serenity of the soul,” said Barry Sternlicht, founder of 1 Hotels and chairman of SH Hotels & Resorts. “We have tried to mirror this with our 1 Hotel Tokyo. It’s part of our pledge to create exceptional hospitality experiences that embrace the next generation of luxury travelers.”

1 Hotel Tokyo will be in the Akasaka district of Tokyo, inside the new Tokyo World Gate Akasaka mixed-use development project that will also include retail and offices spaces.

With nature and sustainability at the forefront, SH Hotels & Resorts designed 1 Hotel Tokyo with authentic materials, raw textures, and traditional craftsmanship. The 38th-floor lobby has plant-lined walls, a ceiling mimicking the sand patterns of a Zen garden, and a sculptural stone water feature.

The hotel’s 211 guest rooms feature moss walls, lattice wood accents, and natural stone, as well as sculptural TV consoles with integrated planters and wood-beamed ceilings. 1 Tokyo Hotel also has a tranquil spa and meeting and events spaces, plus a lobby floor restaurant with an open kitchen, views of the Imperial Palace, and a lobby bar with 360-degree seating and views of the Tokyo skyline.
